Our Teaching Philosophy
At We Love English, we understand that children’s learning adventures don't always follow a linear path. Their minds are like a rollercoaster, exploring different twists and turns throughout the year. We are committed to personalizing each child's learning experience during their time with us to ensure they make the best possible progress.
Ongoing Formative Assessment
Ongoing formative assessment is integral to our educational approach. Through this process, students receive personalised feedback on their progress. This feedback can take various forms, including individual, group, or whole-class assessments, written or verbal feedback, peer (and/or) self- reflections, within a structured framework to support their thinking.
Our teachers are empowered to identify the most effective ways to provide feedback at different stages of a student's learning journey. This flexibility allows us to tailor our support to each student's unique needs, promoting their growth and development.
Incorporating Progressions Tests by Cambridge
To further support our assessment practices, we also integrate Progression tests by Cambridge into our assessment framework. These internationally recognised tests provide valuable insights into a student's language proficiency and help us track their language development over time. These assessments assist us in tailoring our teaching methods to meet the specific needs of each student, ensuring they achieve their full potential in English language learning.
Our Commitment as a Learning Community
As a learning community, we have engaged in thoughtful reflection on what we aim to discover about our students' learning and how we can use this knowledge to enhance the quality of education provided within We Love English. Our ultimate goal is to understand where the challenges lie, how our students develop over time, where to concentrate our efforts and whether the actions we take have a positive impact.
